Perfect air fryer toast is so easy to do. The air fryer has become my secret weapon for making toast. It takes just a few minutes to do.

The result is fantastic and the cleanup is a breeze. Up to 8 pieces of bread can be done in an air fryer as well.

Toast can be made in both the basket style air fryer and the air fryer oven style. It takes a few minutes longer to toast in the oven style air fryers.

If you haven’t tried this Millon Dollar Bacon of mine you should. It pairs well with just about anything. If you are looking for something a little bit different and delicious this Roasted Eggplant Dip is delicious spread on toast.

I happened to use sourdough bread as my bread recipe of choice for this recipe. I am a big fan of Kerrygold Butter it’s delicious and grass-fed too. I think it just tastes better. If you have not tried it I think you should it is really delicious.

Can You Toast Bread in an Air Fryer?

I asked myself this same question when I bought my first air fryer. The answer is YES you sure can toast in air fryers. The results of fryer toast are not only easy but great.

Put the bread in the air fryer basket. Set air fryer temperature to 400°F or 204°C. Air fry bread for 4 minutes.

If bread is thin it will be done in 3 minutes. If you want darker or lighter toast adjust the time by 30 seconds more or less.

Making toast is obviously not a difficult task at all. Toasting bread in an air fryer was something I got questions about quite often. So I set out to make delicious toast with an air fryer.

I have more than one air fryer. One of them is the basket style and the other one is the oven style or toaster oven style.

I made toast in both of them because I find they cooked other recipes a little bit differently. I am going to show you how to do it in both types of air fryers so no matter which one you have I got you covered.

If you do not have an air fryer yet I will also include the information on the ones that I have plus other models that are also good. All my air fryer recipes work in either model.

Just take a look at how good toast comes out. The air fryer toasts bread perfect every time. Of course, if you like your toast more “toasted” the difference is just a couple of minutes.

Making toast in the air fryer is so simple and makes a quick breakfast or snack.

Grab a couple of slices of bread of your choice. It does not matter what type of bread. Whatever kind you enjoy. English Muffins also come out great.

Hint: If you are using the oven type air fryer it takes about 75% more cooking time to air fry. The results are the same as the standard basket style. Just be patient because delicious toast is coming. Follow the times and temperatures below.

Toast in Basket Style Air Fryer

Step 1 – Place slices of bread in the air fryer basket in single layer.
Step 2 – Set air fryer to 400 Degrees °F.
Step 3 – Toast Bread for 6-8 Minutes.

Step 2 – Set air fryer temperature to 400 Degrees °F.
Step 3 – Toast Bread for 10-12 Minutes.

    Substitutions

If you are Gluten Free or Paleo the instructions are exactly the same. Just replace it with your bread of choice.

    • Gluten Free or Paleo – Use Gluten Free Paleo friendly bread like Base Culture Bread instead.

    Variations

Below are a few ideas of how to dress up your toast for breakfast or a tasty snack.

    • Jam – add some jam to your toast. My favorite is Rasberry.
    • Avocado – add some smashed avocado, lemon zest and salt and pepper.
    • Nut Butters – add peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, or plant based butter.
    • Texas Toast – Spread garlic butter on bread to make Texas style garlic toast.

See this Air Fryer Roasted Garlic if you are in the mood for some savory and different garlic bread.

    Kitchen Essentials and Equipment Used

Below are some kitchen items and ingredients that I used in case you would like to use them too. I do earn a small commission on these items at no cost to you. Thanks for your support.

    Top tip

Whether you have a standard air fryer or the oven type do not overlap bread slices. Leave ample spacing between pieces of toast for maximum air circulation and perfectly toasted bread.
